Meet the board
Open Baptists is established as a company limited by guarantee and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission. Companies limited by guarantee have members rather than shareholders, and each member gets one vote at company meetings.
We are set up so that company members must have the support of an affiliated church, making them church representatives for all practical purposes. Open Baptists is a not for profit organisation and members receive no financial benefits.
Open Baptists is managed by a Board of Directors. While the Board has the power to manage the business of Open Baptists, its policy is that major decisions will be referred to a company meeting wherever practicable. Open Baptists seek to build consensus before decisions are taken. We emphasize openness, consultation, and seeking the mind of God together.

Sue grew up in Melbourne. Her first career was in nursing, undertaking general training at the Royal Children’s Hospital, and midwifery in a small suburban hospital. She changed tracks and moved into pastoral ministry, being ordained in 2001. She has served in several Victorian Baptist churches, in a rural Uniting church and in school chaplaincy. For several years she was a tutor at Whitley College, the Baptist Theological College of Victoria.
Now essentially retired, Sue divides her time between rural Victoria in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, and suburban Melbourne. Short story writing developed as a hobby during COVID-19 lockdowns, and she has published two volumes of short stories. Sue does not own a dog, but enjoys the wildlife offered by country living. As a Victorian, AFL is her preferred football code.
Open Baptists acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live and their continuing connection to land, waters, and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures, and the Elders past, present, and emerging.
